CONTINUED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD) UPDATE ON COUNCIL DECISIONS AND APPLICATION FOR DEFERMENT Your attention is drawn to the Continued Professional Development matters as follows: Members [109] that have not yet complied with the CPD requirements for the cycle 1 April 2006- 31 March 2009 had been advised per sms / e-mail on 30/10/2010 to respond by 30 November 2010; Members who did not respond by 30 November 2010 have to submit reasons by 15 January 2011 why registration should not be suspended; Persons over 70 years of age will be removed from the register if they do not return the annual remittance advice; Persons who reside and/ or work abroad should confirm annually on the remittance advice that they are still abroad; and Please note that CPD points are no longer logged online. ONCE YOU HAVE REACHED THE REQUIRED POINTS IN YOUR CPD CYCLE ADDITIONAL POINTS ARE NOT CARRIED OVER Please log points and send your CPD points within a particular cycle and particular annual update ONCE either by email, fax, surface mail. PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR CPD POINTS FOR YOUR FIRST CYCLE [ starting on 1 APRIL in either 2007; or 2008; or 2009; or 2010] CONTINUED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD): CYCLE 1 APRIL 2007 – 31 MARCH 2010 The three year cycle that expired on the 31st of March 2010 and members are requested to send in their CPD points. In the event of non compliance with the requirements for continued professional development the SAVC may impose any one or more of the following conditions (a) grant the veterinary professional deferment for period determined by council; (b) require the veterinary professional to follow a remedial programme of continued education and training as specified by the council; (c) require the veterinary professional to write an examination as determined by the council; or (d) remove the veterinary professional’s name from the relevant register.
